Towards the end of the XIII century a noble roll of the most
aristocratic and powerful families of the area was astablished in
Scala. Amongst these families were D’Afflitto, Rufolo, Muscettola,
Trara, Coppola and Saxo. The existence of this noble roll
testifies to the importance achieved by the Petrician families
living in Scala in the days of the Amalfi Duchy.
