Today my daughter Catherine (age 7) and I spent an utterly delightful half-day with the charming and talented Vincenzino, who gave us a lovely cooking lesson in his private home. We have been in Italy for 4 weeks, and we've had incredible experiences . . . not one was more memorable, warmer, more charming, more interesting, or more Italian than this day! We will always treasure not only the excellent cooking instruction, but the personal and warm welcome we had from Vincenzino into his home just below the Villa Rufolo (for those of you who are familiar with that spectacular site in Ravello, you will appreciate that Vincenzino's house shares exactly the same view--we know for sure, because we enjoyed it while we ate our lovely lunch on his balcony).
A special note to couples, groups or families--I assure you, no matter what the nature of your party, you will be happy. Vincenzino is gracious, funny, gentle and kind, and he had a lovely way with my daughter, whose confidence as a "chef" grew with each moment in Vincenzino's kitchen. At the same time, I could see that this would be an outstanding way for couples, larger family groups or other parties of adults to have a uniquely Italian experience. Most of us visit Italy and never get close to an Italian home--today, I not only cooked in one, I felt almost part of the family! If you visit Ravello, you MUST make Vincenzino's kitchen one of your stops. We were lucky enough to find him only through the charming and able assistance of Mario and Annamaria at Wagner Tours in Ravello

We were fortunate to find Mario of Wagner Tours [--] when we began to plan our trip to Italy. We decided to end the trip with 6 days on the Amalfi coast- a great decision! Mario booked for us the fabulous Villa Maria in Ravello. He also suggested we take a cooking class with Vincenzo.

The day was just magical. Vincenzo's little daughter joined us, making the Italian experience complete- how better to see a country than through the eyes of a child?

As for Vinceno- he is a wonderful chef who guides you with charm and great courtesy through the preparations of dishes we never even heard of. Spending the time with him overlooking the Amalfi coast was a major highlight of our trip- which included Rome, Sorrento and Ravello. We enjoyed vegetables and herbs from his garden, seafood from the Mediterranean freshly caught the same day.

We cannot thank Mario and Vincenzo enough. We hope to return some time and repeat the entire trip.
